Mission Statement and Targets

Association Terra Preta e.V.

Our guiding principle is

the well-being of mother earth and her human children

Our association has the following mission:

Climate Protection

- not the climate should be protected, but the existence of our children.

Reduce greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture (from today approx. 15% to tomorrow minus 5% - biochar and humus can sequester greenhouse gases on practically all organically active areas on earth)

Natural Reserve

- The creation of a grandchildren-friendly environment requires holistic thinking and acting

Preserve the biodiversity of fauna and flora (Edaphon and above ground)

Realize cycles of resources (e.g. N, P, K, ...) instead of destroying them, using microbially charged biochar

Regenerative agriculture with permaculture, renouncing chemical agents and smart agroforestry

Securing basic human services

Water Supply: Keyline Design and Terra Preta increase the storage capacity of the soil

Food security: Organic tillage increases and secures agricultural yields

Energy generation: The pyrolysis of wood to biochar provides energy and

has a negative overall balance of CO2 emissions

Social policy

Integration & inclusion offer increased manual labor in demo nurseries, on farms and within the entire value chain

In rural structures, smaller farms can also operate profitably again; the added value on the farms increases and the dependence on industrial companies decreases

Goals and strategy of the development association Terra Preta e.V.

The main goal of the association is to produce biochar or terra preta from green waste in one or more rural districts in a communal structure and to make it available to farmers in its region at low cost as part of general public welfare.

Our Vision 2030 describes the goal achievement of the association using the example of the Hameln-Pyrmont district.

The following are seen as strategic milestones:

Starter kit for farmers

The association collects funds here through crowdfunding, in order to buy approx. 100 tons of biochar. From this, a Terra Preta is mixed with the green waste or compost from the district waste management of the city of Hameln and the animal dung from friendly organic farms and distributed to regional farmers after a maturing period of approx. 3 months. They should get their first experiences with Terra Preta in practical use.

Operator model

Here the operator of the pyrolysis plant produces biochar or Terra Preta partly from material provided and thus supplies regional farmers with biochar at a sales price of <100 € / t or ready-mixed black earth (Terra Preta) for <15 € / t.

The aim is to prove the profitability of the production under the above-mentioned sales prices. In particular, the marketing of energy generation (heat & electricity) should be practiced, and the possibilities of CO2 certificate trading should be used. The application and acceptance in agriculture (organic and conventional) should be significantly increased here.

Substitution of biogas plants by pyrolysis plants

Possible projects in Hemeringen, Tündern, Arenfeld, Salzhemmendorf and Lauenstein, Germany

Proof of operation and profitability. Products: heat, electricity, charcoal, terra preta, CO2 certificates at normal market prices
